Children walked up to a school bus in scattered groups Thursday morning when it parked in a low-income neighborhood off Furman Hall Road in Cherrydale.
Some grabbed the two bagged meals it brought – breakfast and lunch – and scampered off.
Others, like 9-year-old Anthony White, ate the meals and walked back down with their Chromebooks to use the Wi-Fi on the bus for the brief two-hour period it was there. Anthony leaned against a Greenville County deputy’s car as a makeshift desk to check his Google Classroom assignments.
