Expelling students who make threats isn’t always best, experts say

While schools grapple with increasing threats of violence, they’re confronted with a problem at the center of an ongoing national debate: what to do with students who make them.

It’s a problem with which Joanne Avery is deeply familiar.

The Anderson School District 4 superintendent has thought about it a lot in the aftermath of a shooting at Townville Elementary School that resulted in the death of 6-year-old Jacob Hall in 2016.
